Privacy Policy

This policy explains how The Before Story Pipeline ("the app") handles data. The app is a private production tool operated by The Before Story to prepare and upload videos to The Before Story's own YouTube channel. It is used only by the channel's operator and is not offered to the public.

What the app accesses

With the channel owner's permission, granted through Google's sign-in screen, the app uses the YouTube API Services to:

• Upload videos to The Before Story's YouTube channel (scope: youtube.upload).
• Read basic channel information, such as the channel name and ID, and the channel's own videos (scope: youtube.readonly).
• Read YouTube Analytics for The Before Story's own channel, such as views and watch time, to plan future episodes (scope: yt-analytics.readonly).

The app does not access any other Google account, any other YouTube channel, or any viewer's personal information.

How data is stored

• The sign-in token Google issues is stored only on the operator's own computer, in a file readable only by the operator's account.
• Channel and analytics data is used only to produce and evaluate The Before Story's own videos.
• No data obtained through the YouTube API Services is stored on any server operated by us.

Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share data obtained through the YouTube API Services with anyone. It is not used for advertising, and it is not transferred to third parties.

The app's use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.

Other services used in production

To make episodes, we also use AI services to write scripts (Anthropic), generate narration (ElevenLabs) and generate images and video (Google Gemini). Only our own episode content, such as topics, scripts and prompts, is sent to these services. No YouTube user data is sent to them.

YouTube and Google

The app uses YouTube API Services. By using it, the channel owner agrees to be bound by the YouTube Terms of Service. For how Google handles data, see the Google Privacy Policy.

Revoking access

The channel owner can remove the app's access at any time at Google Account permissions. Removing access stops all uploads and data access immediately. The locally stored token can also be deleted from the operator's computer.

Website visitors

This website does not ask visitors for personal information. Our website host may collect standard technical data, such as IP addresses and browser type, for security and basic statistics. Story pages may embed YouTube videos; YouTube may set cookies when you play a video, as described in the Google Privacy Policy.

Changes

If this policy changes, we will update the date at the top of this page.
